Do these scores ever expire?
Just like the OAT, these other standardized test scores do expire. The test date must be within a three-year period before the opening of the admissions cycle on July 1.
If I take the DAT or MCAT, will I be considered less competitive than if I took the OAT?
Applying with standardized test scores other than the OAT will not make you any less competitive.
How do I get my official scores submitted to SCCO for evaluation?
OAT scores: follow the OptomCAS instructions to submit your OAT scores through OptomCAS.
MCAT and DAT scores: log onto the respective testing sites and have your official scores submitted by using the service offered, sending them directly to SCCO via email or US mail. Please note: there may be a fee associated with requesting scores.
Scores sent electronically from MCAT/DAT companies: use the email address designation of ODAdmissions@ketchum.edu, care of SCCO Admissions.
U.S. mail submission:
SCCO Office of Admissions
Marshall B. Ketchum University
2575 Yorba Linda Blvd
Fullerton, CA 92831
Can I submit my unofficial scores?
Yes. You should receive an unofficial score printout at the test center. We accept unofficial scores to review your application and may offer an interview based on them. Follow these steps to submit unofficial scores through your OptomCAS application:
In Academic History, navigate to Standardized Tests and manually enter your scores.
In Program Materials, navigate to Documents, and upload your score PDF as an “Other” document.
Once both steps are complete, email ODadmissions@ketchum.edu to notify us.
Do not email unofficial scores directly to SCCO.
When should I take my OAT/MCAT/DAT?
Plan to take your test about 1 month before your target review cut-off date. Below are score processing estimates—holidays and office closures may affect timing, so allow for a buffer:
OAT: 3 weeks
MCAT: 30–35 days
DAT: 3–4 weeks
Official scores are required to receive an offer of admission.
